Measures we have put in place so far

• In recent years we have replaced single use plastic water bottles with glass water bottles

• recycling bins are outside guest rooms in the shape of beehives - one for plastics and one for paper and cardboard.

• breakfast is pre-ordered to reduce food waste

• locally sourced food to reduce food miles

• we now run a hybrid car

• bin liners are  compostable

• areas of our garden have been set aside for encouraging wildlife for example log piles, and planting to encourage insects.

• In the spring animal hair is collected when their coats are changing and placed for nest building birds to use.

• Environmentally friendly cleaning products, such as distilled vinegar

• we use aluminium refillable complimentary toiletry bottles

• PIR exterior lighting outside guest rooms

• we have chosen a green electricity supplier, Octopus.

• rainwater harvesting is done by diverting downpipes into our well which is used to water our plants.

• my art studio is insulated with fleeces from our sheep

• All light bulbs in the B&B are low energy

• iPads in each room have information and menus which were paper based before. This saves a lot of paper.

• Hot tub water is used to water the gardens.
